The Guiding Teacher (Buddha) vowed to ferry all beings to enlightenment. Taiping Hermitage, founded in early Chenghua era (Ming dynasty), endured centuries of fluctuations. By 1871, its halls crumbled, statues eroded, lands mortgaged [text lost]. A precept-keeping monk from Tiantai (ancestor of current abbot Shoulun), revered across traditions, passed by with grandson. Reading fragmented stele, he learned redeemable lands [text lost] and accepted gentry's plea to rebuild. For years they fundraised tirelessly [text lost], restoring main hall, side-chamber buildings [text lost], statues, and lands. After his successor Tongxinghe [text lost] added eastern chambers, Shoulun became abbot: paved floors with stone, painted beams, built roadside pavilions, and completed all projects. Yet the Pure Land Dharma Assembly required expansion. With disciple Qinghui's aid, they constructed Three Saints Hall on the right [text lost], carved golden statues, added Patriarch Hall, Pure Land Hall, and lands. From summer 1900 to 1902, this radiant sanctuary emerged. Now with rigorous rituals and perpetual chanting [text lost], it inspires reverence. Witnessing this revival, I record their devotion herein.
