闻之君子将营宫室，宗庙为先。又闻：莫为之前，虽美勿彰；莫为之后，虽盛勿传。盖尊祖

敬宗，诸钜典实赖继志述事之大有人也。平山吴氏系属中丞公苗裔，自十一世祖尤溪县丞德

润公肇基于此，遂聚族焉。延至二十八世孙孚高公、暨干事十一人，始谋创建祠庙，自乾隆

戊辰(1748 年)阅癸酉年(1753 年)告竣，颜曰：崇德。具详美专梁公所撰记序载入谱谍，[1]

但历年渐久，短垣圮坏，而基址又极狭隘。缘是，族长与总理以及干首诸人谋，所以恢廓前

规，毅然倡议捐助，幸合族人等共凛尊敬之忱，各抒继述之念，欣然乐输，慨掷不吝，另载

牌末。爰相与鸠工陀材，式廓大堂三楹，东西楼各三，前厅称之。自道光甲申年(1824 年)

起，至己丑年(1829 年)落成肯堂，构美奂轮，焕然一新。甚盛举也！吴氏子孙可谓有为之，

前为之后者矣。崇德报功有如无已，讵非吴氏之多贤子孙哉。予忝属姻戚，因新正拜岁，邀

予为记。予不辞谢陋，遂叙数语于牌首云。

道光庚寅年(1830)春王正月谷旦眷晚邑庠生张琴拜撰并书

注：碑高 155.5 厘米，宽 63 厘米，圭首，镜岭镇西坑青石。现存小将镇平山村，作洗衣石

半个世纪余。此碑记《叠石吴氏宗谱》题作《重修贤德祠碑记》。

As ancients taught: when building dwellings, ancestral temples come first. "Uncommenced excellence fades; uncontinued glory vanishes." Venerating ancestors relies on successors perpetuating their legacy. Pingshan Wu clan, descendants of Vice Censor-in-Chief, settled here through 11th-generation ancestor Derun, Assistant Magistrate of Youxi. In 1748-1753, 28th-generation Fugao with eleven officers built the "Chongde" Hall, recorded in genealogy. Decades later, walls crumbled and space cramped. Clan heads initiated expansion, inspiring donations (listed separately). They expanded the main hall to three bays, added three-bay east-west towers, and commensurate front hall. Construction (1824-1829) achieved magnificent renewal. Worthy successors indeed! As marital kin invited during New Year visits, I humbly compose this account.
